But I Like Cheeseburgers!

You can't have this. ... You can't have that. ... This has too many calories. ... That has too much sodium. ... This is loaded with saturated fat. ... That has too much sugar.

Sound familiar?

If you're trying to adopt new habits, drop some weight, or just be healthier, those little phrases can be enough to make you scream.

And if all you do is scream, you're lucky.

You might scream, then say "screw this" and go the nearest fast food joint to spitefully order the worst thing on the menu, plus some. Then eat it -- all of it.

Once when I was getting ready for a figure competition, I was eight weeks into my diet and training with four more weeks left until the show.

Review: Subway's Breakfast Menu

I've said it more times than I care to recall: You must eat breakfast!

There's no getting around this. In order to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight -- I'll say it again -- you must eat breakfast!

Not only does it kick start your metabolism into a fat burning machine, don't you just feel better and less cranky during the day when you've had a healthy meal first thing in the morning? Healthy. Not a bunch of sugary junk. My quick go-to option that I can prepare at home in a hurry, is oatmeal with sugar-free strawberry preserves.

OK, now that we're clear, I'm sure that by now, you're well aware of Subway's newest addition: the breakfast menu.
For busy people who can't fit breakfast in before leaving the house, opting for a breakfast sandwich from the  fast food restaurant that has built its brand around weight loss -- remember Jared? -- seems like the best option, right?

Grapefruit is Gross, Right? Not so Fast

I've always hated grapefruit. In fact, I recently accused my husband of thinking he was better than me for eating the sour citrus every morning. But, it turns out, eating grapefruit seems to be good for the metabolism.
A few weeks ago, Hubby randomly started eating pink grapefruit with breakfast. He was grimacing through a bite one day and asked me why people would voluntarily eat something so bitter.

He was asking a trainer a nutrition question. A natural thing.

My reply was blunt, but honest.

I told him: "I think people eat grapefruit just to brag to other people that they eat grapefruit. You can get the same nutrients elsewhere, you know."

Beyoncé Helps Fight Childhood Obesity

Beyonce has teamed up with Michelle Obama through the NABEF in the Let's Move Campaign.

According to The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation site, the organization is spearheading a "Let's Move! Flash Workout" featuring Beyonce. On May 3, 2011 middle school students across the country are being called upon to participate in the pre-choreographed dance exercise routine at the exact time, 1:42 p.m. EST. Beyonce has re-recorded "Get Me Bodied" for the campaign. The song has been re-written as a dance instructional.

Childhood obesity is a serious problem affecting America's children. The Let's Move site states that one in three children in America are obese. These numbers are startling! I'm all for a movement to help our kids get in shape. And what better way, than to dance!

My Post-Baby(ies) Body Blues

Kourtney Kardashian ruined my expectations.

It happened when my twin boys were just a couple of weeks old. I was watching "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami" while at home recovering from a C-section -- and from carrying two children for nearly 40 weeks.
